Question of the Day

Are blogs really relevant? Are people out there reading them. And if they're reading them, why? Why should they take advice from me about anything? Who am I? Does anyone stop to check that out first?

Does anyone really need to know that I haven't blogged for a week because I've moved and then I came down with the flu? How much information is too much information. How much information is safe. How much information is not safe?

How many things that I write in here will turn up ten years later. The Internet and the written word does live forever. Where will be be ten years from now? Ten years ago I would have never believed I would be where I am now - but conversations I had with my friends back then aren't around to haunt me. My views have changed. Do I think my views won't change over the next ten years? Do I want my views now broadcast all over the world in ten years, when I have grown and changed and developed new ideas and opinions?

And most importantly, say you spend an hour a day reading blogs. When do you read books? I'm not willing to give up my time that way. I barely have enough time to read now, and I'm not willing to waste it. Frankly, I'm already bored with the few blogs I've been reading regularly. It's not like reading a newspaper, it's like reading someone's journal. And again, frankly, I don't really care what they think about EVERYTHING. The only one I'm still reading regularly is my friend Lorna Schultz Nicholson's blog - because she's my friend I'm interested in what she thinks and if I haven't talked to her in a few days, I can keep caught up on her busy life.

So go read a book!
